The estate

Since the 11th century, Mas du Novi, a former dependency of the Abbey of Valmagne, has been producing wine on one of the most beautiful wine estates of the Languedoc, on the last hillside of the Cévennes range before the Mediterranean, at an altitude of 150 metres.
Today the estate comprises 42 hectares of organic vineyards and is set in 60 hectares of woods and scrub land of the Languedoc Grès de Montpellier and the IGP Pays D’Oc wine regions.

THE HISTORY

Once upon a time… in 1139, Abbot Foulques of the Abbey of Ardorel (Tarn), founded the Abbey of Valmagne on land ceded by the feudal lord of Cabrières, vassal of Raymond Trencavel, Viscount of Béziers. The MAS du NOVI was one of its wine production buildings, located on the surrounding hills and enjoying breathtaking views of the nearby coastline, according to early documents about the area. However, traces of the presence of Romans have been found on the site, suggesting that even they were already producing wine here.
